I started Miss Lori’s CAMPUS to help children explore their sense of Wonder, while simultaneously improving the overall health and wellness of themselves and their families. I created the CAMPUS Kids to physically exemplify my mission. Having had an amazing outlet for creative development myself as a child at CTM (Children’s Theatre of Madison), I wanted to do my part to contribute to the healthy development of young people who want to “take the stage” of life. Miss Lori's CAMPUS Kids have a zest for life that they are anxious to share with others through music, dance, theatre and now blogging! Miss Lori and The CAMPUS Kids have Summer and Camps on the mind
Hard to believe with all of the snow on the ground, but Summer is just around the corner! For many parents just like me that means research, phone calls, lines, waiting and registration, all for CAMP. My kids are looking at Columbia Fine Arts camp, basketball camp, museum camp and more. There are so many [...]
Miss Lori asks The CAMPUS Kids what Black History Month means in school
February is Black history month, but it hasn’t always been that way. Black history month actually started as a week by carter G. Woodson in 1926. Then it was known as Negro History Week. In 1976, as a part of the 200th anniversary of this country, Negro History Week was elongated and renamed Black History [...]
Miss Lori and The CAMPUS Kids have resolutions for 2010
“New year, New you.” That’s a popular campaign slogan that adults buy into, making all sorts of resolutions for change. For myself, when I make resolutions they are quiet. I keep them to myself. Lately though, I have been adopting a theme for my years, like love, peace, or hope. More of a mission than [...]
Miss Lori and The CAMPUS Kids find strength in CHARITY.
This has been a tough year for so many people. The economy has put many families under the water line, making the holidays a difficult time to handle. But in a time of powerlessness there is still a way to feel powerful, charity. No matter your situation I truly believe there is always something you [...]
Miss Lori and The CAMPUS Kids plan a Staycation in Chicago!
It’s time for Winter break. A chance for our children to shake off their school routines and hang loose for two weeks. (I think I am looking forward to it even more than my own kids. This has been a hard semester!) Typically vacations have meant just that, VACATIONS, a chance to get away from [...]
Miss Lori and The CAMPUS Kids beat the Winter Blues with Activity!
In my DVD Activate & Be Great The CAMPUS Kids and get ready for one of our fit-family-fun performances by practicing our songs and dances. In the Summertime we perform those shows live 4-5 times a week. In the Winter it’s only a couple of times a month. It can be hard to stay active [...]
Miss Lori asks The CAMPUS Kids about STRESS.
The holidays, though joyous in nature, can also be a very stressful time for families, particularly in light of the current, and far reaching, troubles with the economy. There are reports published daily about ADULT stress. So, I was wondering how the CAMPUS Kids were feeling. Their overall recommendation is that parents need to talk [...]
Miss Lori and the CAMPUS kids are looking forward to Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. It’s a day where the whole Country gathers with friends and family to nourish their hearts, and their bodies, (sometimes a little too much of the body). Thanksgiving offers us many opportunities to connect through traditions old and new. This week I asked The CAMPUS Kids how they [...]
Miss Lori’s CAMPUS Kids define honor and courage
For the inaugural post by the CAMPUS Kids I wanted to get at themes that are bandied about often in school and current events. With the new Warner Brother’s movie The Blind Side opening this week it provided the perfect back drop to address the themes of “Honor” and “Courage”. Watching the movie myself I [...]
