Menu Verdict: Boring!
Aubrey | Nov 15, 2009 | Comments 4

Being a victim of the 12 and under limit is agonizing. So I’m writing to all the restaurants of America, and possibly the world, to let them know that kids menus are boring. Let me just say, having to eat the same items over and over is not fun.
As a pre-teen, I don’t like the idea of kids having a separate menu just because of age.I guess restaurants, and their owners, don’t take into account that we are young adults and we might just want smaller portions from the better menu.I would rather have a mini filet mignon than the usual options of chicken fingers, pizza, buttered noodles, and other simple foods. But seldom do I find a smaller portion of the “regular menu” foods. And I know that I usually steal off my parents plates just because their food looks better.

Aubrey–you are so right about the kids menu! My kids have been eating off the adult menu for a long time…and often times it’s just too much. I love your idea of smaller portions of the adult menu…listen up restaurant owners!

As a mother of a toddler, I, too am frustrated by the kids’ menus. Not only are they always the same old things, but they aren’t healthy either. I would rather order an entire adult meal and take home the leftovers than try to entice him to eat a hotdog, nuggets or another grilled cheese, all sided by fries!
Go ahead and order from the regular menu, Aubrey! It’s more expensive, but you can take home a doggie bag and then it’s 2 (better) meals for the price of one!
Ugh, after a week of vacationing, I almost throw up when I hear the word Chicken Fingers!
Kristen’s idea is really good. Ask your parents if they don’t mind you ordering off the regular menu. You can ALWAYS ask the restaurant to only bring you half, and wrap the other part up to take later. People do this all the time, and you can too!
