Overworked, Overwhelmed, and Under Paid-Wait, we don’t get paid at all

overworkedI literally can’t remember the last time I was bored because I had nothing to do. I ALWAYS have something to do. And, while that seems nice—pardon the cliché—appearances are deceiving. I am so ridiculously over-whelmed, it’s not even funny. I’m in APUSH, a part of four singing ensembles, two dance groups (one of which I head and choreograph), a camp counselor training program, a music school, soon Track (once season starts, someone save me…), my school’s student-run café, and a few clubs that unfortunately I can’t fully commit to. I’m also a daughter with responsibilities, a sister with proofreading skills and skype-ready advice, a student with demanding teachers, and a teenager with friends who always want to hang out.

I yearn for the lazy days where I’d come home and make myself a cup of tea, sit down, and read. When was the last time I read for fun? I still have 25% left to read of a Lolita I’ve been renting since August laying on my bedroom floor…that’s a bit embarrassing.

I’m a sleep-deprived, over-worked, over-whelmed teenage girl…and I love it. At least, deep down—like way deep, deep down—I know I love it. As much as I complain, I wouldn’t want to give up any part of my life. I’ve chosen the road trés difficile, but it’s what I want. Well, except for the homework, of course :P

  1. I don’t understand how people can be bored, either! You sound a lot like me – I was in a million things in high school (and I also took APUSH). High school is far behind me, but I continue to stay busy running my own company and volunteering for numerous organizations. KEEP IT UP! The students who learn how to do this in school are often the adults who become community leaders.

Keep on truckin’, Hannah. And remember us when you rule the world! : )
